I think this anti-turkeyism has become conventional wisdom and needs more scrutiny. It's true of course that you're way more likely to roast a chicken at home than a turkey, but that's because a turkey is unreasonably large unless you're hosting a large feast.

People buy sliced turkey at the deli counter to have a turkey sandwich all the time — create a logistically reasonable scenario to be eating turkey and people like turkey. Or you go to the county fair and have a fried turkey leg — delicious!
