The Society of Self-Hosters (SSH) is a Town for people who prefer to run their own infrastructure. Some are building homelabs, others manage production systems but all value ownership and staying close to what they operate. They share a commitment to understanding the systems they use and taking responsibility for how those systems run. SSH uses the Towns app, which runs on a network of nodes instead of a single company’s servers. It’s a setup that fits a community focused on control, transparency, and independence. Inside the Town, members actively share knowledge and support each other. The membership fee helps fund that work covering documentation, guides, and early efforts to support members who want to run their own Towns node.
