The Ego Labs team has decided to wind down its current product, ego, and pivot to building something new. While we originally set out to build a launchpad that offered canonical tokens for any social profile on the Internet, we ultimately discovered that operating a successful launchpad is first and foremost tied to quality of distribution rather than development of new features. With various competitors extremely well funded and deeply entrenched in the ecosystem, we came to the conclusion it was not a sector we felt we could adequately compete in. What will happen to the website? The website will remain operational for at least the next six months. All functionality will remain and any users with funds on the site can export their wallets or move funds to new addresses. What will happen to the EGO token? While the token will remain on Solana forever, the team will wind down the token to the extent possible. Prior to any wind down, the team will take a snapshot of existing holders. What are you building next? We are actively exploring new products to build and are experimenting with new tech within the crypto ecosystem. We hope to have more to share on this front soon…TBD
